Rice bran is one of the most valuable — and one of the most demanding — oilseeds to process. Fresh bran contains active lipase, which begins splitting triglycerides into free fatty acids (FFA) within hours of milling. Without immediate stabilization, even good bran produces dark, high-acid crude oil that costs more to refine and sells for less.
That is why, in every rice bran oil plant Huatai builds, the pre-treatment section comes first — and decides the quality of everything downstream.

Why stabilization is the core step

Grain and oil processing practice consistently points to the same rule: control FFA at the bran stage, not at the refinery stage. Neutralizing high-FFA crude oil later means higher alkali consumption, more soapstock, greater neutral-oil loss and lower yield.
Huatai's answer is expander stabilization​ — heat, pressure and shear in one continuous unit that:

• Deactivates lipase​ and locks FFA at a low level
• Forms porous pellets​ that let solvent penetrate evenly in extraction
•  Keeps handling mild enough to protect meal protein
• Runs continuously under PLC control, with stable steam and power use

Inside the Huatai-built section

Cleaning → De-stoning / sieving → Conditioning → Expander stabilizing → Cooling → Conveying to extraction

All oil-contact parts are 304 stainless steel. Each unit is fully assembled and trial-run in Huatai's factory before shipping — so on-site installation is faster and start-up is more stable. The whole section runs on Huatai's PLC intelligent central control, with real-time monitoring and early warning.

What it changes downstream

A properly stabilized bran pays back across the whole line:

•  Lower residual oil in meal​ — porous pellets extract more completely
•  Lower refining loss​ — less acid, less alkali, less soapstock
•  Higher-value meal​ — protein preserved for feed or further processing
• By-product upside​ — the same line supports rice bran wax​ and gamma-oryzanol​ recovery, turning what used to be dewaxing waste into fine-chemical raw material

Huatai's wax extraction and refining technology — efficient crystallization, low-temperature crystal growth and precision separation — completes the chain from removal → extraction → refining → high-value use.
